In the heat of summer, some nice angling for bass is available at a few locations in the area.

Vince Santangelo at the Resort at Lake Selmac had reports of largemouth bass up to 6 pounds, including one that was fooled by a topwater lure.

Topwater lures are a good tactic now, early and late, with the daytime heat.

Bluegill, crappie and even a few trout have also been caught recently, Santangelo said.
