Silverton, the reigning Class 5A state champion, outscored Grants Pass 21-0 in the second half to run away with a 35-10 win in Friday’s matchup of top-5 football teams at Mel Ingram Field.

The Foxes (2-1), who are the top-ranked 5A team in this week’s coaches poll, used a ball-control, smashmouth offense and smothering defense to cruise by the fifth-ranked 6A Cavemen (2-1).
