Josephine County Sheriff Gil Gilbertson, left, talks with levy supporters at the Wild River Pizza and Brewery after learning the results of Tuesday’s vote on a property tax proposal to fund criminal justice programs. The proposal failed, and deep cuts to patrol, jail, prosecution and juvenile services are expected.
Voters, by a margin of 57 to 43 percent, on Tuesday defeated a four-year tax proposal to fund local criminal justice programs, including jail, rural patrol, prosecution and juvenile department services.

Deep cuts are now expected to take place in the next few weeks.
