  Hilda "Louisa" Howerton, 85, of Grants Pass died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007, at Royale Gardens Health and Rehabilitation Center.

  A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Chapel of the Valley-L.B. Hall Funeral Home, with Dave Abbott, pastor, officiating. Private inurnment will be held at a later date.

  She was born Nov. 30, 1921, in Grants Pass to Will and Minnie (Huggerth) Trimble. On June 30, 1946, in Grants Pass, she married Gordon T. Howerton, who survives. She lived in Grants Pass her entire life and for 38 years she worked as a beautician. After retiring, she was a potter for 22 years and sold her pottery all over the world.

  She enjoyed nature, the outdoors, animals and growing irises.

  In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Sandra Overstreet of Central Point; two sons, Randy Howerton of Grants Pass, and Bill Howerton of Medford; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
