Josephine Community Libraries supporters celebrate early voting returns on Tuesday, as libraries executive director Kate Lasky holds up a cellphone so the 50 or so people in attendance at the Wild River Pub in Grants Pass can hear a congratulatory call from the state librarian.

The Josephine County Jail levy and a measure to create a library district both passed in Tuesday's election.

The jail levy was passing 52 percent to 48 percent. All but a few hundred ballots have yet to be counted, and county election officials do not expect the results to change significantly.

The library district measure also passed, 53 percent to 47 percent. The animal control levy was renewed by a whopping 70 percent.

You can check out the full details on the election results and local reaction to them in Wednesday's print edition of the Daily Courier.
