Filing deadline for Grants Pass City Council is Tuesday

With less than 24 hours to go before the filing deadline, at least three out of four seats up for grabs on the Grants Pass City Council will be contested in November.

Councilor Brian DeLaGrange has a challenger for his Ward 1 seat in Indra Nicholas. Ward 1 represents northwest Grants Pass.

Two candidates — Jay Merideth and Victoria Marshall — will be vying for the Ward 2 seat held by Valerie Lovelace, who is stepping down when her term expires at the end of the year. Ward 2 represents northeast Grants Pass.

Councilor Vanessa Ogier has two challengers for her Ward 4 seat. They are Kathleen Krohn and Mark Kelsey. Ward 4 covers southwest Grants Pass.

To date, a single candidate, Erich Schloegl, has filed for the Ward 3 seat held by DJ Faszer, who has not said whether he plans to seek reelection. Ward 3 covers southeast Grants Pass.

Mayor Sara Bristol is also seeking reelection. She has drawn a challenge from former councilor Clint Scherf.
