A man suspected of shooting at a church and a dental office in the past five days in Grants Pass was arrested at 2 a.m. Friday, following an intense investigation. Joshua Randall Ashley, 26, was arrested at 901 South Vannoy Creek Road in the Merlin area, with the help of a SWAT team, according to the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety. He’s listed in the Josephine County Jail as a Grants Pass resident, and he faces charges of attempted murder, several charges of reckless endangering, and three counts of unlawful use of a weapon. Detectives used surveillance footage, automated license plate reader technology and witness statements to track down Ashley. Police seized a black, 2000 Honda CRV at the South Vannoy Creek Road residence, the car believed to be used in both shootings. On Sunday shots were fired at the Parkway Christian Center on the Grants Pass Parkway, while church was in session. One bullet went through a window and another hit a tree. No one was injured. On Wednesday afternoon a shot was fired at Johnston Dental Offices, 1825 N.W. Hawthorne Ave, going through a window and grazing an elderly female patient inside. She declined medical treatment. That shot was fired from the car as it drove through the driveway.
