Faszer, King elected to Grants Pass City Council

The Grants Pass City Council welcomes two new faces following the 2018 general election. A total of five council seats were on the ballot this year.

Dwight Faszer II, a local house builder, defeated Alan Day with over 63 percent of the vote for a Ward 3 seat that was vacated by Jason Sharp early this year.

Joel King, an office manager at his wife’s medical office who spent his career in the U.S. Forest Service, defeated two opponents with more than 51 percent of the vote. He ran against at-home care provider Cami Walter and River Valley Church pastor Rodney Schaubroeck.

Three incumbent councilors ran unopposed and were re-elected to their seats. Roy Lindsay won his bid for his Ward 1 seat, Rick Riker won his re-election bid for a Ward 2 seat, and Dennis Roler won re-election for his Ward 3 seat.

The City Council is weighing some heady issues next year, including the need to build a new water treatment plant and the need to bolster the local inventory of affordable housing.
