Suspect in bank robbery in May arrested for Thursday's robbery of KeyBank (MUG)
A man already accused of robbing a bank earlier this year has been arrested in connection with the robbery of another bank in Grants Pass on Thursday. Gabriel Gene Suiter, 44, was arrested about 3 1/2 hours after the KeyBank on Williams Highway was robbed by a man wearing a fake beard and sunglasses during the lunch hour. Police said surveillance footage revealed the robber fled on a scooter. They did not say where they nabbed Suiter hours later. They also did not describe the level of force used in the robbery or whether the robber displayed a weapon. Suiter was well known to local authorities, having been arrested for the robbery of the downtown branch of Umpqua Bank on May 14. Suiter was awaiting trial in that case on charges of third-degree robbery and first-degree theft. Police described him then and now as a transient. In addition to the robbery, police said Suiter also stole a car from Fairgrounds Towing and was in possession of methamphetamine. |
