Hidden Valley High School principal resigns; district cites personal reasons
The principal of Hidden Valley High School has resigned less than two weeks into the school year, and so far the reason for his departure is unknown. Daye Stone submitted his resignation Thursday, effective that same day. He had been the principal since 2012 and was not reachable for comment Saturday. Three Rivers School District Superintendent Dave Valenzuela, School Board Chair Kate Dwyer and Director of Secondary Education Casey Alderson all said that Stone was leaving for personal reasons and declined to elaborate further. Last school year, Stone was involved in a controversy over a heated confrontation he had with players and parents on the boys basketball team. According to both Valenzuela and Alderson, Stone’s departure was unrelated to the incident. The long-term plan for the high school is still being determined, but in the short term, assistant principals Rachel Damiano and Brian Miller will be running the school, with support from the district office, Valenzuela said.
